Ubuntu on Windows installation issues

Hi, I was trying to install Ubuntu Linux on Windows but it gives me an error that the program requires me to enable the Windows Subsystem for Linux. I am not able to do this. I tried to follow instructions from https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/install-win10?redirectedfrom=MSDN, but it gives me an error. I do not think my admin allows me to do this. I submitted a ticket to NIH Help desk to see if they can help me with this, but I was wondering if anyone else found this issue.

Buried in the introductory Biostar Handbook reading is this suggestion from the author "For best results, Windows 10 users will need to join the Windows Insider program (a free service offered by Microsoft) that will allow them to install the newest release of “Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL)”. Follow those instructions and see if it helps with the installation. Thanks, Amy

As it turns out, admin privileges are needed to install the Ubuntu Linux on Windows. Many people are having this issue on their PC. We are working with CBIIT and NCI-Frederick to resolve this. You will be contacted by them in the next couple of days and they will help you complete the install. Thanks, Amy
