About this Class

NGS produces millions of sequences per sample and the challenge is to identify where in the genome each sequence came from. Fortunately, there are aligners that help scientists with this task. After this class, participants will be able to describe the software that can be used for RNA sequencing data alignment, differentiate between splice and non-splice aware aligners, and align an example dataset. This class is hands-on, and attendees will be assigned Biowulf student accounts to follow along with the exercises. Experience with bioinformatics or NGS analysis is not required to participate.
