About this Class

In this lecture, Dr. Mitrophanov will introduce ANOVA as a generalization of the t-test and explain its main purpose: to facilitate statistical hypothesis testing for several groups of observations. He will briefly review the concept of statistical hypothesis testing, discuss some common types of ANOVA analysis, and explain the statistical assumptions behind ANOVA. He will then discuss nonparametric analogs of ANOVA and what to do when the information provided by ANOVA is insufficient for the investigator’s research purposes. Familiarity with statistics at the beginner (or preferably intermediate) level is recommended.
