Bioinformatics Training and Education Program

The Bioinformatics Community Fair and the 2025 NIH Research Festival

The Bioinformatics Community Fair is on Tuesday, September 9th, as part of the 2025 NIH Research Festival. This year’s events will be held in the NIH Library Training Rooms in the basement of Bldg 10 on the NIH campus. Starting at 10 AM, the schedule features presentations in the morning about various bioinformatics training programs, including the NCI CCR Bioinformatics Training and Education Program (BTEP), the NIH High Performance Cluster (HPC) Biowulf, the NCI Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (CBIIT), and the NIH GenAI Community of Practice.

BTEP will present about bioinformatics resources available throughout the NIH such as high performance clusters and the cloud. This information will be helpful to anyone at NIH looking to gain more skills in bioinformatics analysis. Following this, Biowulf staff will provide information on the NIH HPC Biowulf, including how it can be used to ramp up bioinformatics analyses. NCI’s CBIIT will introduce the Computational Genomics and Bioinformatics Branch (CGBB) and discuss it’s standardized NGS pipelines (RNA-seq, WES, ChIP-seq and Single Cell) and vision for the future including AI/ML applications. Finally, we will have representatives from the NIH GenAI Community of Practice (CoP) tell us about their teaching and training activities.

And that’s just the morning schedule! Stay for a Bioinformatics Q & A during our lunch break and then attend the afternoon session. Featuring speakers working with AI from around the NIH (image processing, text processing, GenAI), this event promises to be an exciting way to spend a day at the 2025 NIH Research Festival.
